On Sunday, May 22, 2016, LA Galaxy played the San Jose Earthquakes in the ‘California Clasico’ at the StubHub Center. We chose this game to hold our inaugural LA Galaxy San Diego Club Day and had over 2000 LAGSD members attend the game. The day also consisted of our B04 & B05 Academy teams playing against the LA Galaxy Academy teams in the morning, a lively tailgate party in the early afternoon and then the high 5 line and half time game experiences for some of our players before and during the game.

Tailgate Party - LAGSD Club Day

LAGSD Director of Operations, Michael Duggan, proudly proclaimed, “What a fantastic day had by all yesterday. I have to admit, I had never been to a tailgate party before but now I can’t wait for the next one! Seeing our LAGSD families socializing together and really embracing the day was something special. Also, what an unbelievable day for our players; from the opening games against the LA Galaxy Academy teams, to the high 5 line, to our boys and girls playing the half time game on the stadium field. This was a day that they will cherish and never forget. All in all, it was one of the best occasions I have had with the club. I felt so proud to be a part of it all. Great job everyone!”

LAGSD President, Skye O’Grady, added, “What a great event to culminate the kickoff of our season and transition into becoming LA Galaxy San Diego.  It was great fun to see all the kids enjoying themselves, forming new friendships and becoming true fans of LA Galaxy.  We wish all our players, teams and coaches much success as we head into our summer tournament season.  Go LA Galaxy San Diego!”

LAGSD Girls Game - Club Day

LAGSD Club Manager, Natalie Eckerlin, commented, “Our goal for our first day ever Club Day at the StubHub Center was to provide our members with the full LA Galaxy game day experience, and the Galaxy staff went above and beyond in helping us host an amazing day for the 2,000+ Galaxy San Diego players and parents who made the trip up to Carson.  The future for our alliance with Galaxy looks very bright, and we are excited to continue to work closely with them on events like this.”
