In the club’s first ever recreational coaches game, each Recreational Director took a team, with Gregg representing the boys and Adam representing the girls. A total of 32 recreational coaches took park in a very sporting and fun game which finished with a 1-0 win for the girls coaches on a fine Sunday afternoon at Poinsettia Community Park.

It was a tight match with the boys team starting strong and missing a few early chances. The girls team then began to find their stride and countered brilliantly to take a 1-0 lead into half time. In the second half the boys team bombarded the girls goal but missed chance after chance as well as having a penalty saved by the girls team GK. In the end, the girls hung on to clinch the victory and take the trophy home.

Carlsbad Galaxy Assistant Recreational Director, Adam Martin, commented, “I’d like to thank the coaches for coming out and participating in the first ever recreational coaches game. It was great to see them all out there showing the kids how its really done. I think it was a huge success and look forward to bringing the trophy home for the girls team again next year!”

Carlsbad Galaxy Recreational Director, Gregg Cacioppo, added, “Such a fun day, I felt that the boys team did enough to win the game but unfortunately we just couldn’t score. Congratulations to the girls coaches and Adam but we will be back next year ready to take the trophy. Thanks to all the coaches and families that came out to support us”
